We don't use moulds, off-cuts or pre-shaven methods for our Cacao Chunks. We believe in preserving the quality and nutritional benefits of Ceremonial Grade Cacao and therefore hand-chop our chunks, to eliminate unnecessary processing methods.
Nourish Hub Cacao originates from the rare Criollo bean and is rich in flavanols, a plant compound that has been shown to lower blood pressure, improve circulation to the brain and heart and is full of antioxidants. It also has high levels of potassium, iron and magnesium that can reduce inflammation in the body and stress on cells.

About:
Ceremonial Cacao is made from the highest quality cacao beans, sourced from small farms that use organic and sustainable farming methods. These beans are carefully selected, hand-harvested, and processed with great care to preserve their natural flavours and properties. To be classified as "Ceremonial Grade", Cacao must be minimally processed, organically grown, and harvested in small-batches using traditional methods.
Criollo Cacao (the strain we source) is rare, representing only 5% of the worlds cocoa / cacao production. This strain has more complex, creamy and naturally sweet flavours, as well as higher nutritional benefits than other strains. By sourcing this strain of Cacao, we are protecting and supporting the Indigenous communities in Peru and the traditional and intended uses of Cacao.

Ceremonial Cacao VS Cacao Powder:
The main difference is how they're processed. Cocoa is made by roasting the cacao bean at a high temperature and supplementing it with additives (refined sugar) to overcome its bitterness. Cacao is produced by roasting the bean at a low temperature and has no additives. Like any natural food, or a botanical ingredient that goes through high heat and other processing, the original material loses much of its therapeutic benefits, potency and nutritional value.
Preparation:
- 1 cup of water (the traditional way to consume) or milk of choice.
- 1-2 chunks of Ceremonial Grade Cacao (20-40g) or chop to your desired serving size.
- Heat over the stove on a low heat and blend with one of our Nourish Hub Handheld Milk Frothers to eliminate separation. Alternatively, combine in a blender that's safe for hot liquids. Sweeten if desired.
- Pour into your favourite mug, set an intention and enjoy.
